I started my research in 2002 and have documented thousands of people with the surname Bossong/Bossung/Bossing. I'm convinced anyone with this surname is related and a descendant of the 17th century Schallodenbach Bossongs in present-day southwest Germany. Prior to that, it appears the family emigrated from the lowlands of central Europe (present-day Belgium).
Along with a few other researchers, I am trying to link all people with this surname. It's been a daunting task but I believe it can be done as the surname (with the ending G) appears to only be a few hundred years old and, as I mentioned previously, all stemmed from Schallodenbach.
I've also spent a few years trying to find the definitive link between the German Bossongs and the ancestors from the lowlands.
